Pesticide exposure has been linked to the development of Parkinson's disease; asthma; depression and anxiety; attention deficit and hyperactivity disorder (ADHD); and cancer, including leukemia
and non-Hodgkin's lymphoma.
Agricultural pollution refers to the negative impacts of farming and agricultural practices on the environment.
Some examples include:
All forms of pollution, including agricultural pollution, can have harmful effects on the environment and human health. It can harm or kill animals and plants, contaminate water and air, and negatively impact the economy, as well as human health. Pollution can also exacerbate poverty and social injustice. However, many efforts are underway to mitigate agricultural pollution through sustainable farming practices, and regulations on the use of pesticides and fertilizers.
Also, all other forms of pollution like industrial, vehicular, plastic, e-waste etc. can have a widespread negative impact on the environment and human health, and cause long-term damage to ecosystems, air and water quality, and public health. The solution to pollution is to take action to reduce the amount of pollution produced, develop more sustainable technologies, and protect and restore natural environments that can help filter pollutants from the air and water.
Agricultural pollution can contribute to global warming in several ways. First, the use of synthetic fertilizers in farming can release nitrous oxide, a greenhouse gas that is around 300 times more potent than carbon dioxide. Second, livestock farming, particularly the digestion processes of cows, generates methane, another potent greenhouse gas. Third, the clearing of forests for agriculture can lead to the loss of carbon sinks, which play an essential role in the global carbon cycle and help to regulate the Earth's climate.
